    Nice to see the Picture. My grandfather built the “Mar” boats back when I was born (late 50′s). Still remember the boathouse and the wood steamer box from when I was very young. Thanks for bringing back memories

    Hi Mike, Thank you for the note. Was your grandfather’s name Tarabochia? Or was it another name, He built beautiful boats with great shear lines and sensible transom sterns. Where did he learn his trade.

    Yes, Mario was my maternal grandfather. They shortened the last name to Tara when he arrived in Canada. He came from a family of boat builders, 5 brothers I think.

    I have the sister ship Mar Brothers, now renamed Viking Mariner and retired to cruising the Gulf Islands, based in Montague Harbour.
